What is the Honda Sensing™ safety suite?

There is a lot to love about the latest Honda Technology. From its advanced technology to the focus Honda put on making their vehicles more efficient, it's shaping up to be one of the most exciting new vehicles in the market While the advanced technology inside the new Hondas will make the ride more enjoyable for drivers and passengers from an entertainment standpoint, Honda's advancements will also help make the new-generation Hondas safer. With an available suite of preventative safety features, which is being called Honda Sensing™, drivers can stay more aware of their surroundings and receive alerts when danger is imminent.

Honda Sensing includes a number of driver-assistance technologies, some of which have been offered in the past and others that are new to the Honda lineup. According to Honda, this suite of safety technologies is "designed to expand the driver's situational awareness while sensing and responding to potential road hazards, including other vehicles, road obstacles and even pedestrians, mitigating the possibility or severity of a collision."

What safety technologies are included in the Honda Sensing suite? The Honda Sensing suite includes a variety of active safety technologies, some of which are standard and others that much be added through trim upgrades or the addition of packages.

One of the all-new technologies for the new Honda line up is the Road Departure Mitigation System, which is a feature that has been offered in recent Acura models. The system utilizes a camera mounted between the rear view mirror and the windshield to detect lane markings. As drivers approach lane lines without a turn signal, an alert will appear, steering wheel torque will be applied and vibrations will occur to make the driver aware.

While there are a number of other safety features in the Honda family of vehicles the Honda Sensing suite will help drivers be more aware of their surroundings to avoid ever needing the ACE body structure or dual-stage airbags.
